What better way to celebrate the birth of a nation than a with free Guitar Hero III track? That’s right folk, the good people over at Activision want to help you celebrate the Fourth of July by giving away the theme song to Top Gun. The song will be available for download starting Thursday, July 3.
Note, despite popular belief, Kenny Loggins’ “Highway to the Dangerzone” was not the theme to Top Gun. In fact, the theme is a shredtastic piece written and preformed by Steve Stevens.

Quake Live has opened its gates for a beta test! If you don`t know what Quake Live is, I will make it short, Quake Live is Quake 3 built into your web browser! That means that you will never ever need to buy the original game, because it will wait for you on your favorite website. That website is actually QuakeLive.com.
Even better, id Software opened sign ups for a beta test, so if you want, you can go to QuakeLive.com and add your email there. Than you can only wait and pray that you will be chosen. Good luck!
View a couple of screenshots from the game after the break. Note the new Visor brightskin.

id Software announced to day that IGA Worldwide will serve all ads for the upcoming Quake Live, previously known as Quake Zero.
Quake Live is a fully ad-supported, web-based, free version of Quake 3 that launches out of the web browser. Mod support has not been confirmed, however.
Here’s some more PR info about the upcoming game:
Created by id Software as an all-new way to deliver the excitement and energy of first-person multiplayer action to a broader audience than ever before, QUAKE LIVE offers game players of all skill levels a totally free and easily accessible multiplayer gaming experience and community through a single website at quakelive.com. Every element of the experience, including friends lists and communication, sponsored events and tournaments, matchmaking, stats tracking, and even the game itself is accessed and delivered free of charge through the web browser.
Group C of the StarCraft GOMTV Star Invitational follows up with some potentially awesome games to watch. Stork looks like one of the favorites to win this event, while all the other players are close to being in top shape. Interestingly enough, there are no Zergs in this set. Expect tanks and dragoons galore tonight.
Visit the GOMTV schedule page to find out when this is all going down.
Also keep in mind that these matches are all being shoutcasted in English by Nick “Tasteless” Plott. GOMTV considers this a test-run for Tasteless, and future employment for him (and English StarCraft enjoyment for us) hinges on his viewership numbers. So, hit the GOMTV GSI video on demand page to view completed games, as well as the aforementioned match schedule page to see when the next battle begins.
Tasteless is casting every match…now to the previews!

This is just a reminder that if you have Xbox Live Gold account, you can download Undertow for free until Sunday night, Jan. 26.
I just got my copy a few minutes ago. If you already have Undertow, you can get 800 Microsoft Points by calling 1-800-4-MYXBOX and giving the people on the line your information.
Once they confirm that you already have Undertow, you will get 800 MS Points. Not a bad peace offering for the Xbox LIVE holiday outage if you ask me.
For the longest time, my friend Chris has been nagging me to play the game REZ. I have never really understood his fascination with the game, and kept blowing off buying it.

Well, now is my chance, and yours as well, to get the upcoming REZ HD on Xbox Live Arcade. If you go to the REZ HD website and register, you will be put in a drawing for one of 50 prepaid Xbox Live Marketplace codes. You better act quick; the contest ends Jan. 27th.

KeSPA has released its ranking of StarCrraft professionals for November. The world’s most fearsome Protoss, Kim “Bisu” Taek Yong, is back on top of it.
The Koren eSports Players Association, among other activities, runs a ranking of the best SC players in the country. It is a calculation of points awarded based on winning percentage of players in major and minor events that took place within the past three months.
After a one-month stint in fourth place, the “Zerg killer” Bisu has regained his lead in the ranking. Other than Bisu pipping Song “Stork” Byung Goo for first place, there were very few significant changes in the top 10. Ma “sAviOr” Jae Yoon, August’s leader, is staying in a safe third place.
See the ranking below:
1. Bisu (Protoss) +1
2. Stork (Protoss) -1
3. sAviOr (Zerg) -
4. IriS (Terran) -
5. Hwasin (Terran) -
6. Sea (Terran) -
7. GGplay (Zerg) +1
8. free (Protoss) +3
9. NaDa (Terran) -2
10. JaeDonG (Zerg) -

WCG Korea for StarCraft, the fiercest World Cyber Games qualifier, is now almost down to the final four. The players that will battle for three tickets to the finals in Seattle are Hwasin, Stork and sAviOr. Either Free or Sea will join the club tomorrow.
Not one of the players that qualified for the WCG last year, incidentally, they took all three medals for StarCraft, will make it to the WCG this year. The 2006 gold medalist IloveOOv and the bronze medalist Midas were knocked out in the top 16. Continued…

The Codemasters MMORPG Archlord has now gone the desperate route. Not content with sales so far as a subscription MMO, they’ve now gone the Korean way and are offering the game up for free. That’s right, FREE! Go here to check out the game and download it … if you want.
IloveOOv on Monday, Bisu on Tuesday… The time has come for Lee “NaDa” Yoon Yeol, the only three times Starleague winner on the planet. Today, he was another giant to be eliminated from the Korean World Cyber Games qualifier for StarCraft.
Two out of the remaining four top 16 matches were played today. In a Terran mirror match, NaDa lost 2-0 to Yum “Sea” Bo Sung. The current number one in StarCraft, Ma “sAviOr” Jae Yoon, has gone through at Park “Yellow[ArnC]” Myung Soo’s expense. Continued…
