For their efforts, each player on the winning teams takes home a Resistance: Retribution prize pack worth $1,4200. That prize pack consists of: Resistance leather bomber jacket, $500 SonyStyle Gift Card, and a PSP TV prize pack (32″ XBR TV, PSP 3000, 16GB PRO Duo and Component AV Cables).
Let’s give all the players a hand for their efforts in two grueling brackets!
Only nine teams remain in GGL’s $25,000 Resistance: Retribution tournament, and that number is dropping daily.
On the 2v2 side of things, #2 seed s.o.u.l and #7 Q-deathsquad will battle to the death. The winner has the honor of facing off against #3 Blood Brothers, a team that placed consistently at the top of the 2v2 ladder.
At the top of the bracket, #16 Polonian Resistance and #20 7th Sign go head to head. Will seeding decide the outcome or can lower seeds pull off some upsets? Only the 2v2 players can decide that in the coming days, and it will be decided by a razor thin margin.
In 4v4-land, a low-seeded team already exerted its will–and booted out the top seed. 9th-seeded team 4-Play clubbed #1 Six Feet Under, advancing to the 4v4 semi-finals.
Now 4-Play will look #4 Sick Kill Zone in the eye and attempt another upset. Expect violence.
The real story this week is that we have two new teams in the top five! BrothersinArms and the Mexio-based oblivion climbed to 4th and 5th, respectively. Great job, and way to secure good positioning for the brackets!
Ultimately, it will take a few willing participants to knock ARJUN out of the first spot (and first bracket seed). We’ll check in with these skilled teams in a couple of days to see if anyone can build the momentum to do it. Until next time…
Less than 10 days remain in GGL’s Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 tournament. With $2,000 in prizes on the line and the competition down to the wire, each team is looking to crush as many poor souls as possible in the ladder grind. Let’s take a look at the current top 5s for both ladders!
Since our last update, Hate Us have gone on a monstrous tear to preserve their place on top of the PS3 ladder. It’s not without good reason, either: CoD GoDz are hot on their heels after having put together a 42/7 record and 3W streak themselves.
On the 360 side, Lagstars are barely holding on vs. Bolt Action Killers and it seems that a leapfrog could happen at any moment–especially given the 8W streak that BAK is building up. CMS STUDS and the teams below will have to string together a huge winning streak to capture first at this rate.
Keep your eyes peeled for more updates out of this tournament as they happen. I have a feeling the real drama will be between Hate Us and CoD GoDz.
Today, April 8, marks the end of the practice ladder period for GGL’s Call of Duty ladders. That means that from here on out, every match is for keeps!
Follow the links below to join the ladders.
Team sizes are flexible for this ladder, with opponents mutually agreeing between 2v2 and 4v4. This allows you to compete even if you don’t have a full 4v4 team. Read the full prize breakdown after the jump:

id Software has announced its open beta date for the hotly anticipated Quake Live: Feb. 24.
In preparation for this monumentous occasion, GGL has put up four different ladders where you can test your mettle against the opposition. Here’s the list:
On the 360 side, Team Anomaly sport a 2-1 record with a 2W streak, improving after losing their first match. Meanwhile, 6FU sit at a 5-3 record and 1535 points with the wolves nipping at their heels. Brown Eyed Girlz (5-1, 1500, 1L) are coming up right behind them and CIBF are quickly climing the ranks with a 4-0 record and 1400 points.
A number of other teams are clubbing each other from rank 4-6, with Urban Street Fighters (4-1, 1395, 1L) in position to move into the top three.
With only one week remaining in the BAGL Call of Duty: World at War bracket, the field of play has been whittled down to eight teams. Many brave soldiers were crushed under their tank treads, so here are the remaining matchups:
Jeremy “Black Mamba” Florence took home gold last night in the SoulCalibur IV Xbox 360 tournament grand final, beating tournament favorite AlexJ in two matches. The match was broadcast on G4’s X-Play.
AlexJ previously blew through the semi-final phase of the tournament, while Black Mamba barely made it to the final–the end result is a huge upset. Watch the finals below.
In the first match of the final, Black Mamba’s Sophitia came from behind to take out Alex J’s Voldo. Mamba took the first round, only to be beaten in the second and third rounds. Not to be put out of the fight so easily, Black Mamba stormed back in the final two rounds to take the first match.
Now, AlexJ’s back was up against the wall. But Black Mamba gave no quarter; he 3-0′d the final match and AlexJ was helpless to stop him.
Congrats to Black Mamba for winning the tournaments, and congrats to all participants!
