Like most gamers, the first thing I tried out when I got my hands on Grand Theft Auto IV was the multiplayer. Unsure of how to do pretty much anything, I scoured the manual for some clues. Unfortunately there in no mention of muliplayer.

Rockstar Games has confirmed that they have released a patch for the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. Specifically, the patch addresses the issues dealing with online play.
“Rockstar Games has released a GTA IV patch for Playstation 3 today that prevents Gamespy’s servers from being overloaded and therefore reduces the impact on those servers that were causing the game to stutter and lock up. We continue to monitor the performance of the game both on and offline and will provide further updates as necessary. We want to assure everyone that, together with our hardware partners, we continue to strive to give our fans the best possible interactive entertainment experiences possible. This update will ensure that everyone will experience Grand Theft Auto IV the way it was intended. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.”

Liberty City is a pretty big place. It’s easy to get lost while marveling at the beautiful scenery. That is why Google Maps and IGN have teamed up to make an interactive map of Liberty City.
The map allows users to choose what is shown, from mission markers to clothing stores. This is an invaluable resource when running from the cops or figuring out where to take your date. The map can be found here.

As I am sure many of you have discovered, as you eagerly unwrapped your long preordered copies of Grand Theft Auto IV, packaged with the game is a free month of Xbox Live Gold. If the numerous 100% reviews weren’t enough to convince you, maybe this will push you over the edge. I cannot stress to you guys how much fun the multiplayer in GTA IV is. In fact as i write this, my roommates and I are passing around the controller taking turns causing havoc across Liberty City.
This tactic of offering a free month is great, as it will undoubtedly lead to year long subscriptions from players that normally would not have experienced GTA IV multiplayer.

As Americans, it is our civic duty to vote. However, as gamers we often feel chastised by politicians and their views on videogames. Now is our time to rise up and be heard. Yahoo games is trying to inform gamers as to which candidate will help defend our rights to frag.
I know what you are thinking: “If I’m old enough to vote, none of these game laws affect me.” They may not affect you directly, but if these laws start getting signed, larger retailers might start pulling games off shelves which would hurt the entire industry. Take Manhunt 2, for instance. When I went to pick up my copy at my local Target, they informed me that they weren’t carrying the game due to its controversial nature. If the government starts regulating videogames, who knows what they will deem “unsuitable” for public consumption? Continued…

Embattled videogame censorship advocate Jack Thompson is accusing Rockstar game of threatening his life in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV.
Thompson sent a copy of a letter to Take Two’s Strauss Zelnick to a Florida federal court:
I have this morning read with interest an article on page 80 and 81 of the September 2007 issue of Game Informer magazine which was generated when, according to its author, Rockstar Games “stopped by the Game Informer offices for an impromptu hour-long gameplay session with the Xbox 360 version of the game.”
The showcasing play of the game to Game Informer revealed that the first killing mission of the “hero” of the game, Niko, is to kill a certain lawyer. When Niko comes into this lawyer’s office, having used subterfuge to do so, Niko pulls a gun on the lawyer who says, “that the firm supports the second amendment and that ‘Guns don’t kill people. Video games do.’” Continued…
