Today EA announced a release date for Dead Space. Predictably, Dead Space will be arriving Oct. 31, Halloween. This apples only to the PS3 and Xbox 360 version; there has been no word on a release date for the PC.

Personally I can’t wait for this game. I have always had a thing for survival-horror games, however the classic zombies and mansions are getting kind of old. Hopefully space is just what the genre needed. Until Halloween, I guess I’ll just have to follow the comics to tide me over.

Today, EA announced that they will be teaming up with Image Comics to supplement the story for the upcoming space horror adventure Dead Space.

The comic book will run for six issues, starting March 3rd, and will be illustrated by Ben Templeton (30 Days of Night) and written by Anthony Johnston.

The book will tell the story of a deep-space mining colony, who accidentally digs up some bad stuff, causing all hell to break loose. You know the drill.
The full press release is after the jump.

If you guys are anything like me, you love spooky things. I love scary movies, horror stores, and H.P. Lovecraft. I would be in true bliss if I could find a videogame that was actually scary. The only game to successfully scare me was the original Alone in the Dark.

Unfortunately for horror junkies, the new Alone in the Dark has been delayed. Originally slated to be out this March, we now have to wait two extra months and pick it up in May. Well, that is, if you were going to play it on Xbox 360, Wii, PC or PS2. Atari will not give an official release date for the PlayStation 3 version.

I’ve been craving something in the horror genre for sometime. I guess I’ll have to reread “A Shadow Over Innsmouth” while I wait to be satisfied.

Read: Alone in the Dark delayed until May, PS3 even later.

Saw V

Nooooooo! Not House of the Dead! When Brittany awoke, every part of her lithe, tanned body ached. She tried to move her hands and feet, but they were immobile. Terrified, she opened her eyes.

She had never been inside the shack, but she recognized it from hiking through the Schwarzwald. It sat alone in a dark dell full of stunted, black-skinned elms. She had assumed it belonged to some local poacher, but now she realized the terrifying truth. Continued…

Ten Tales of Videogame TERROR!

Greetings, friend. That most terrifying of holidays, ancient Samhain, which the ignorant call “Halloween,” is almost upon us. Across the globe, the walls between the lands of the living and the dead will fall, and the souls of the slain return to wreak their terrible vengeance on the living.

And people will dress up like Spiderman or a Naughty Nurse, bob for apples and tell ghost stories over an open fire.

Few know there are tales of horror unique to the world of videogaming. Here are ten blood-curdling tales of gaming horror and the macabre. Read on — only if you dare! Continued…
