Today Valve announced that a new DLC pack for Left 4 Dead will arrive sometime in Sept.
The “Crash Course” DLC will add a new campaign streamlined for Versus Mode as well as new Survival Mode maps. According to Valve the new DLC will feature “New locations, new dialogue from the original cast, and an explosive finale.” Valve also stated that the “Crash Course” campaign will act as a bridge between the events of “No Mercy” and “Death Toll.”
The developer stated: “The primary goal of ‘Crash’ is to deliver a complete Versus mode experience in just 30 minutes, resulting in a streamlined version of the game’s existing Versus campaigns. A recharge timer for infected teammates has also been added, and item spawn behavior has changed for more balanced gameplay.”
The “Crash Course” DLC will be available on both the PC and Xbox 360. While it will be free for PC gamers, those on the 360 will have to pay 560 Microsoft Points ($7).
Personally, I can’t wait for this. Pretty much every night I’m playing Versus Mode, and the idea of a new campaign just gets me shacking with anticipation. The other good news about this is that it should calm down all the L4D2 boycotts.

Update: Valve has announced that L4D2 will feature AI Director 2.0, which will procedurally change the weather, objects in the world, effects, sounds, and enemy population. L4D2 will also feature new weapons, items and boss zombies. Valve has stated that it will arrive with more content than the original, meaning more campaigns, Versus mode maps and Survival mode levels.
Today at Microsoft’s E3 keynote, Valve announced that they are currently developing Left 4 Dead 2 for the PC and Xbox 360. To make this announcement even better, Valve stated that L4D2 is slated to arrive Nov 17.
As the trailer shows, there are four new survivors in a variety of new locations. There also seems to be a focus on melee weapons, including frying pans and chainsaws. In the trailer there seems to be at least one new boss monster, however it could just be a new model of the tank.
You can be sure that I’ll post updates as new information arrives.

Why buy it off of Steam? Because Valve is having another one of its fantastic weekend sales. You can snag L4D for 40% off. Only $23.99 stands between you and hours of zombie slaying fun.

Today Valve detailed the contents of Left 4 Dead’s Survival Pack, which arrives Tuesday of next week on PC and Xbox 360.
The Survival Pack, which is free, adds a new Survival Mode, where players must survive increasingly frequent waves of zombies across 12 maps. According to Valve, it is almost impossible to survive for more than 14 minutes due to the fact that by that time in the game Tanks spawn every 14 seconds.
According to Kerry Davis and Scott Dalton, two employees at Valve, “Given the extreme pace of Survival Mode, the number of zombies killed in a single round often outnumbers an entire campaign.”
Aside from Survival Mode, the DLC adds the Dead Air and Death Toll campaigns to Versus mode.

Yesterday night valve posted an update on the official Left 4 Dead blog. In this post, Valve discussed what changes they plan on making in future updates.
One of the changes involves updating the matchmaking system to accommodate third party campaigns. Once this is updated, “players will be able to find dedicated servers running the campaigns they have installed.” You will also be able to see which of your friends are playing community created campaigns. If you don’t have the user made map, all you have to do is click on your friend name and you will be linked to where you can download the map. Another major change to the match making system will allow team-based Versus mode matching. This will streamline the process of finding another team of four to compete against.
Valve also stated that it is planning on redoing the player matching system. The post says: “Currently the system tries to match people with the same skill level and best pings together. We will be revisiting this system to tweak it based on data we have collected.”
Valve has stated that these changes will go into effect shortly after the Survival Pack DLC is released on April 21.

In a recent interview with IGN, Valve announced that the Left 4 Dead DLC will arrive on both PC and Xbox 360 sometime before April 21.What makes April 21 such a special day for Valve? That is when the Left 4 Dead: Critics Choice Edition re-release hits stores.
The free L4D update adds both Dead Air and Death Toll to Versus mode as well as adding a new “Survival” mode. Apparently there will be 12 maps for Survival mode, 11 of which are recycled from the four campaigns. The one new map is called Lighthouse.
The way Survival mode works is, players will have unlimited time to search the level for better equipment without being harassed by swarms of zombies. Once everyone is outfitted to their liking, the players will trigger the zombie horde. Players will be faced with a never ending wave of zombies, both regular and special. To make matters worse, the classic limit on special zombies is gone, making it possible to fight two tanks at once. According to Valve none of it’s testers survived more than nine minutes.

Two days ago I posted an article abot some Left 4 Dead DLC details. At the time I wrote it, there was one important detail I was unsure of, price.
Yesterday Valve announced that the “Survival Pack” DLC will be free on both the PC and Xbox 360.
While I expected the DLC to be free on the PC, I also expected Microsoft to flex their authority over Xbox Live Marketplace and charge gamers for the content. Thank heavens they didn’t.

Last week Valve announced the Survival Pack DLC for Left 4 Dead. Unfortunately they were a bit tight on the details, especially about the new Survival Mode. Luckily the folks over at GameTrailers were able to squeeze out a few mode details.
The new Survival Mode will have “up to four player set records for the longest time surviving hordes of zombies on over 12 maps.”
Are these 12 maps individual chapters from the campaigns or are they entirely new maps designed with Survival Mode in mind? I guess we’ll have to wait for more details.

February is in full effect and that means one thing, Valentine’s Day. If you guys are like me, you have no idea what to do for you significant other. A fancy dinner is too expensive and I can’t justify buying a gift when I still don’t own Gears of War 2. What I need is a good card.
Lucky for me, a fantastic artist on the Penny Arcade forums, named beavotron, has posted several free Left 4 Dead themed Valentine’s Day cards. Now my girlfriend will know just how she makes me feel; like a Boomer so full of joy I could vomit. Hopefully these cards will help get some of you guys off the hook too.
