Today it was revealed on GameStop, that Spore will be getting a Galactic Edition. “What’s the difference?” you ask. Well aside from the $80 price, gamers will be treated to a “Making of” DVD, a DVD from the National Geographic Channel titled “How to Build a Better Being”, a mini art book, a poster and finally a 100-page “Galactic Handbook”.

Quite the collection for $30 more. If I was super excited about Spore, I’d get this in a heart beat, but I’m not. In all reality, I’ll probably get roped into buying this. It comes out just in time for my girlfriend’s birthday… and she loves Will Wright games.

Yesterday Blizzard released patch 1.12 for Diablo II. The patch allows gamers to finally play D2 without having the play CD in the drive. In order to do this, you must have the selected the “full install” option when installing the game. Other issues the patch addresses deals with involve compatibility problems with Intel powered Macs. Patch 1.12 also reset the online rankings.

The internet is ablaze with speculation that this means that Diablo II will be heading to Blizzard’s download store. This may be the case, however Blizzard is notorious for patching their games long after their release date; Case and point Starcraft, which came out in 1998 and was patched as recently as 07.

That’s right, kiddies, the brilliant-looking game we saw at E3 oh so long ago just got a release date; it’s slightly over 200 days until you get to play God.

If you’re too cheap to buy a PlayStation 2 or just have something against consoles (and I know there are plenty of you out there), Aspyr and Activision are bringing Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock to your Mac and PC systems.

Online multiplayer and downloadable content will be included in these titles, but there’s no word yet on what services or pricing structure will be used. Also, if you don’t feel like having the USB Guitar Hero controller sitting around on your desk, you can play the game with the keyboard and mouse — though that’s sure to sap the fun out of the game faster than you can say “Rockabilly Freakout.”

Will it be easier to tap your keyboard than use the controller?

On Saturday, I attended one of the many different panel discussions at this year’s Penny Arcade Expo. While I skipped a number of them because I felt they just didn’t hold the type of people I’d want to hear opinions from – a lot of the more marquee industry notables were probably in Germany for the Games Convention – this one perked my interest because it involved the guys behind the upcoming Penny Arcade long-winded title Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode One. A game I admit I had never cared about personally, but did hold a genuine curiosity toward.
