A few days ago, I posted a news item about the new Metal Gear Online expansion pack. According to Konami, the pack was released a little prematurely. In fact, it is so buggy that it has “major system related problems.”
What does that mean exactly? Well the list is too long and convoluted to post in its entirety, so here are some basics. The server load is too heavy, there are login problems, there are billing problems, the “Community Support Page”, “Reward Shop”, “Ranking Display” and “Online Help” are not working correctly.
Konami apologized for this debacle and has stated, “We are currently doing all in our powers to bring a permanent solution to the ongoing problems in the quickest possible time.” Hopefully it will be fixed sooner rather than later.

During Konami’s E3 press conference yesterday, they announced the first expansion pack for Metal Gear Online. The “Gene” pack will feature a new gameplay mode called “survival”, three new maps, a reward shop and two new characters. At the award shop, gamers can buy new gear for their characters by spending points earned in survival mode. The best news is the expansion is out today. That’s right folk, stop reading this and start downloading.

As most of you know, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots hits stores this Thursday. Also most of you know that GameStop doesn’t let big games like this go by without a midnight launch. GameStop announced that over 1,500 of this locations will be hosting a special MGS4 midnight launch/event.
“What makes it so special?” you ask. To get gamers ready for the title and to help pass the two hour wait, GameStop will be hosting trivia contests, a Big Boss costume contest and special gameplay previews.
Sounds like a blast. Just be sure to check the list and see if your local GameStop is hosting the event.
