Over at Teamliquid.net, translator Joohyunee has brought news of a new league soon to hit the airwaves of MBC and OGN. This new Minor League will showcase the up and comers who make it onto professional teams but don’t advance into individual leagues or the Proleague rosters. There are more than 200 Brood War pro gamers yet many never get experience in front of audiences and as a result, often plateau in skill and performance. The 11 team coaches hope to remedy this issue with the new minor league.

According to the translation: “Each team will have a roster of 5-10 players, and players with less than 3 participated games in the ‘A Team’ can also participate in the ‘Minor League.’” Unlike Proleague line ups, which have four 1v1s and and 2v2, the minor league test will be a best of five with only 1v1 match ups. Some of the most interesting and exciting replays I’ve seen have been of highly skilled “no namers.” This will likely remain true with this new league, which should launch early next year.

KeSPA, the governing body of e-sports in Korea plans to start with a “test match” and based on the results will come up with the official league structure.
