Atari picks up Ghostbusters

Today Atari sent out a press release announcing that it has picked up the Ghostbusters game. According to the press release, Ghostbusters: The Video Game should arrive some time in 2009 and is coming to six gaming platforms, the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, and the DS. Ghostbusters: The Video Game features voice acting from the original cast, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson. The script was penned by Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, who wrote the Ghostbusters movies.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game takes place two years after Ghostbusters II. Manhattan is, once again, swarmed by pestering poltergeists and it is the duty of the player, who takes on the role of a new ghostbusting recruit, to solve the spectral situation.

I can assure you that there is nobody more excited for this game than I am. I was practically raised on the Ghostbusters movies. The fact that the game was written by the comedy legends who penned the movies just seals the deal for me. As soon as a solid release date is given, you can rest assured that I’ll post it here.

Trackmania DS previewed

Once only known for its PC editions, Trackmania DS is looking to revitalize racing games on Nintendo’s juggernaut handheld.

EDGE got its hands on a preview edition of Trackmania DS, and the game is apparently everything DS racers so far haven’t been: Fast, pretty and intuitive.

TrackMania DS, in replicating its PC source material so meticulously, is something of a technical feat. Locked at a steady 60 frames per second, it’s also the fastest racer on DS. The instant restart feature, so integral to the ‘one more go’ appeal of TrackMania, is present and correct – a tap of the X button is all that’s needed to return to the starting line.

The game also includes the fabled track editor, the lifeblood of the Trackmania community. Unfortunately, it won’t allow you to upload tracks using the DS’s WiFi connection, but you can share tracks locally.
