Late last night Nintendo announced that stating this Sunday, the Wii will be $50 cheaper in North America. That means come Sept. 27 you can snag the motion-controlled console for $199.
This news really shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise. Over the last few weeks numerous leaked documents helped fueled rumors of a price drop.
Just last month, both Microsoft and Sony announced price cuts for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Many are questioning whether Nintendo had planned this price cut long ago, or is the company just trying to follow suit. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below.

If there is one third party game that Wii fans are interested in, it’s Dead Space: Extraction. Many gamers are curious if the horror aspect of Dead Space can be recreated with the Wii’s motion controls. Today Visceral Games released a video that should help put gamers at ease.
The new trailer showcases Dead space: Extraction’s motion controls. From the looks of things, Extraction seems to be shaping up nicely. Visceral really seems dedicated to producing an on rails shooter that takes full advantage of motion controls while not making them feel excessive.

Dead Space Extraction is an on-rails first-person shooter set before the events of Dead Space. It offers multiple paths for gamers to explore, both on their own and with a friend via two-player co-op. Also, Extraction introduces “an important new heroine to the Dead Space universe.”
Hopefully the sci-fi horror of Dead Space will transition smoothly to a FPS on rails. If so, we might have a new House of the Dead, except this time in space.
Today Nintendo announced they it will be releasing a Metroid Prime Trilogy bundle for the Wii. The bundle, set to arrive Aug. 24, comes with the first two GameCube Metroid Primes along with the Wii’s Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Personally I could never get into the Metroid Prime games. There’s just something about playing a FPS on the Wii that makes my skin crawl. Hopefully I’ll be able to over come this prejudice because I’ve heard that the Prime trilogy is awesome. What do you guys think? Is a Metroid Prime Trilogy appealing? This week’s two big titles might make you think fondly of your childhood. That’s because both games were NES franchises.
Bionic Commando is a direct sequel to the 1988 NES game with the same title. Gamers take control of Spencer, a commando with a bionic arm (go figure). The robotic appendage allows Spencer to swing around environment like Spider-Man. Spencer’s arm also allows him to toss massive debris, such as boulders and cars, at his enemies. Bionic Commando is arrive on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
The other major title this week is Punch-Out!! for the Wii. As with the previous Punch-Out!! titles, players will take control of Little Mac as he works his way up the boxing ladder. Punch-Out!! can be played with just the Wii Remote using the original NES controls, or players can also use the Nunchuk in tandem with the Wii Balance Board for a more interactive experience.
