Today Valve announced that the Steam library will be gaining two classic platformers from the Oddworld series. Both Abe’s Oddysee and Abe’s Exoddus are currently available on Steam for only $9.99 apiece, or bundled together for $14.99. If you choose to buy these games this week, you will also get a 10% discount.
A pretty sweet deal if you ask me. I’ve always felt that the Oddworld games were under appreciated by gamers. Sure they were bizarre and had a hell of a learning curve, but the story and characters are just so charming. If you have never touched them, give the Oddworld series a try. Afterward, feel free to leave a comment below letting us know what you think.
Way back in March, I wrote up a little news story on the Puzzle Quest expansion, titled Puzzle Quest: Revenge of the Plague Lord. For those of you who don’t remember, the expansion is only arriving on the Xbox 360, via Xbox Live Marketplace. The add on brings four new classes, 25 new quests, 50 new spells and 40 new items. The expansion also increases the level cap to 60.
That’s quite a lot of content for only 700 Microsoft Points ($8.75). Not a bad deal in my opinion.

Monday, June 16, two more original Xbox titles get a second chance at life. The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning and Guilty Gear XX #Reload will be up on Xbox Live Marketplace under the Xbox Originals tab. Both titles will cost you 1200 Microsoft points ($14.99).
Guilty Gear XX #Reload is a 2D fighter, much like the Street Fighter Alpha series. The cool thing about Guilty Gear is that almost everything has to do with, or is a reference to heavy metal music. If you are a fan of 2d fighters or heavy metal it’s definitely worth picking up
The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning is your classic 3d platformer. A New Beginning marks the restart of the Spyro franchise and focuses more on action rather than puzzles and platforming.

Today Sony announced that 20 new user-generated levels for echochrome will be made available for download between today, May 15 though May 21. Sony went on to say that these new levels may be replaced with more new content in the following weeks.
The additional levels will show up randomly when playing in freeform mode, when the difficulty is set to level 2 or 3.
I really like how Sony is quick to put out DLC for echochrome, however I can’t say I agree with content replacing itself every week. Either way, echochrome is a great puzzle game that I can not recommend enough.

It’s been announced that the critically acclaimed Puzzle Quest will be getting an expansion. Unfortunately this expansion has only been announced for the Xbox 360 version.
The title is currently Puzzle Quest 1.5, however that won’t last. The developers want to have Puzzle Quest fans name the expansion. To participate, head on over to www.puzzle-quest.com and submit a suggestion. This might be your chance to make games history.
Puzzle Quest 1.5 will be adding loads of content. Featuring four new classes: bard, rogue, ranger, and warlock; and loads of new monsters and bosses, Puzzle Quest 1.5 looks like a pretty good deal. There will be over 25 new quests, 50 new spells and 40 new items.

If you guys are anything like me, you can’t wait to get your hands on the trippy puzzler Echochrome. Well, lucky for us, an Echochrome demo was released for the PSP today.
How do you go about getting it? Well the good guys over at PSP Fanboy took the time to write out some easy to follow directions. Be warned though, your PSP firmware must be updated to version 3.90.
Also, the demo is in Japanese. My guess is that the most puzzling part for most of us will be trying to navigate the Japanese menu.
The directions can be found here.
This past year has produced some of the best games in a long time. I just wish that some other more casual games, namely Peggle and Puzzle Quest, received more attention.
This is why I was so excited when I heard that Puzzle Quest is getting a sequel.
Revealed in a press release from D3, the exact quote is: “The company will also be releasing video games based on Aardman’s popular Shaun the Sheep character in 2008, alongside the eagerly-awaited follow-ups to the best-selling Ben 10 and Puzzle Quest.”
This news makes me hopeful that Puzzle Quest 2 will get the wide spread success and critical acclaim that its predecessor deserved.
(In other news, Summa just creamed his pants).

There’s no question that the star of Valve’s Orange Box was Portal, for me at least. That’s why I’m sure that it comes as no surprise that Valve is planning more Portal content.
As to what this content is, I am not sure. However Doug Lombardi, Valve’s marketing director, said: “There’ll be more Portal, for sure. But the details of that, to be honest, we’re still working out.”
Personally, I would prefer a Portal 2 rather than just more puzzles. I’m tching to know more about our hero and what happened to GLaDOS. Hopefully this time around, the cake won’t be a lie…

This must be Xbox Live Arcade’s week. First it’s announced that Rez HD and Chessmaster Live come out today. Now we hear that next Wednesday, Feb. 6, Poker Smash is coming to XBLA.
Mixing elements of poker and Tetris, this unique hybrid is the flagship title of Void Star Creations. Featuring six gameplay modes (Action mode, Puzzle Mode, Practice Mode, Custom Playlist Mode, Split Screen Head-to-Head and Miltiplayer Tournaments), Poker Smash looks to be a well polished, unique puzzler. There has been no word of price, however I’m willing to bet it’s going to be 800 Microsoft Points ($10).
