GGL Wire’s coverage of QuakeCon 2007 is still ongoing, even though the event ended three weeks ago. This time around we’ve got the 2007 John Carmack keynote with a large portion of the Q&A session. We filmed until we ran out of tape. It starts with the Rage trailer and runs 2 hours, 23 minutes of a look into the head of one of the most prolific — and arguably brilliant — game programmers ever.
In order to facilitate easy viewing, the keynote is broken up into 14 parts, which you can view right here in this player. The Q&A session starts around the 8 minute mark of clip 6, so don’t miss that.
“I didn’t install Quake 2 before the event, I thought it would be really tough to win the tournament, but I was confident with Quake 3 and Quake 4,” says Johan “Toxjq” Quick, the winner of QuakeCon’s Quad-Damage tournament two weeks ago. Does a guy like Magnus “Fox” Olsson really need another sound card? Not only is he a sponsored player, but I’m sure he’s won innumerable sound cards over the years. Regardless, he was a winner not 10 minutes ago in the QuakeCon quick draw contest, where ticket holders are picked to win sponsored prizes. The quick draw contest attracts a ridiculously huge crowd, so here are some blurry pictures of that and the babes tossing away prizes like nobody’s business.
