Like most gamers, the first thing I tried out when I got my hands on Grand Theft Auto IV was the multiplayer. Unsure of how to do pretty much anything, I scoured the manual for some clues. Unfortunately there in no mention of muliplayer.

Today Rockstar Games released a guide containing all the info necessary to get started on GTA IV’s multiplayer.

If you still feel like a noob every time you log on, hit the jump for the full guide. Continued…

Rockstar Games has confirmed that they have released a patch for the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. Specifically, the patch addresses the issues dealing with online play.

“Rockstar Games has released a GTA IV patch for Playstation 3 today that prevents Gamespy’s servers from being overloaded and therefore reduces the impact on those servers that were causing the game to stutter and lock up. We continue to monitor the performance of the game both on and offline and will provide further updates as necessary. We want to assure everyone that, together with our hardware partners, we continue to strive to give our fans the best possible interactive entertainment experiences possible. This update will ensure that everyone will experience Grand Theft Auto IV the way it was intended. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.”

As I am sure many of you have discovered, as you eagerly unwrapped your long preordered copies of Grand Theft Auto IV, packaged with the game is a free month of Xbox Live Gold. If the numerous 100% reviews weren’t enough to convince you, maybe this will push you over the edge. I cannot stress to you guys how much fun the multiplayer in GTA IV is. In fact as i write this, my roommates and I are passing around the controller taking turns causing havoc across Liberty City.

This tactic of offering a free month is great, as it will undoubtedly lead to year long subscriptions from players that normally would not have experienced GTA IV multiplayer.

Rockstar Games has been making deals all over the place, getting their games digitally distributed while avoiding government censorship.

A little while ago I posted a news item about Rockstar teaming up with IGN Entertainment’s Direct2Drive.

As of today, Rockstar Games has joined forces with Valve’s Steam service, bringing you the entire Rockstar PC catalog.

The list of games includes the Grand Theft Auto series, the Max Payne series, Manhunt, Midnight Club: Street Racing II and Wild Metal Country. For a limited time, Steam is selling the Rockstar collection for 10% off, totaling $53.95. Not a bad deal if you ask me.
