In a recent interview, a representative for 2K Games stated that the PC version of Gearbox’s open-world RPG/FPS Borderlands has been pushed back to Oct. 26.
According to Charlie Sinhaseni, senior PR manager of 2K Games said, “We’re optimizing the PC version which takes a few days longer than expected.”
For those of you who don’t know, Borderlands is a sci-fi FPS with a heavy focus on RPG elements. According to Gearbox, the game was heavily influenced by the Mad Max films as well as Blizzard’s Diablo.
The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are still slated to arrive in the States on Oct. 20. The rest of the world will have to wait until Oct. 30.
You knew it was going to happen sooner or later, so here it is: Bethesda has filed suit against Interplay, alleging that the recent releases of Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel over digital distribution were unapproved.
Regardless of who you think is in the right here, Bethesda is backed by Zenimax, which is flush with money (apparently enough to acquire id Software), and Interplay is still trying to get back on its feet. This is a David & Goliath fight–and I’m picking Goliath.
Today S2 Games, developers of the Savage franchise, unveiled a new website and trailer for their upcoming RTS/RPG Heroes of Newerth.
Heroes of Newerth is essentially a retail copy of the hugely popular Warcraft III custom map Defense of the Ancients. Slated to arrive fourth quarter 09, the $30 game features various improvements over the original mod such as, VoIP support, Reconnection capabilities as well as better looking graphics and models.
As someone who is currently in the beta for HoN, let me say that I love this game. I’m a hardcore DotA fan, but the improvements S2 Games have included make HoN a much more enjoyable experience. If you’re a DotA fan, you really should consider checking out HoN.
Today Blizzard launched a new service for World of Warcraft players that them to pay for a faction change. For $30.00 gamers can make their Horde character jump ship and join the Alliance or vice versa.
According to the FAQ, “Each Faction Change costs $30.00 USD (not including applicable taxes). This covers a single Faction Change for a single character.”
In order to change factions, gamers need to go to their Account Management page and click the “Change Faction” button. From here, you’ll be given a choice of which race you want your character to be from those available to their class and faction. If you are looking to just change your race, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Blizzard notes in the FAQ, “We will be releasing a Race Change service in the near future for this purpose.”

Today publisher Gazillion announced that David Brevik, the creator of Diablo, will take on the role of lead developer on the upcoming Marvel Universe MMO.
Brevik, now director of Gazillion’s Gargantuan studio, once held the role of President of Blizzard North and served as project lead, design lead, and lead programmer on Diablo I & II.
Brevik stated, “Gazillion’s mission to bring MMOs to the mainstream while maintaining the depth in gameplay that enthusiast gamers demand is something that deeply resonates with me. Marvel is a perfect fit for this mission.”
Hopefully the Marvel Universe MMO will fair a little better than Brevik’s last project, Hellgate: London.
Several months ago I posted a link to the first installment of Dark Horses’ The Old Republic’s web comic. Today Dark Horse released the second installment.
While the first episode was mostly talk, part 2 starts off with a bang. Lightsaber fights are abound as “young Jedi Satele Shan is marooned on an escape pod in an obscure star system…”
As a comic book geek, I love this kind of promotion. After reading through Act 1, I couldn’t stop thinking about how sweet BioWare’s The Old Republic is going to be. Unfortunately there is no solid release date for the upcoming star Wars MMO. Hopefully it will hit stores sometime this year.
This weekend mark a big celebration here in the U.S.A., Independence Day. Each person has their own traditions when it comes to celebrating The 4th. Personally I’ll be spending my day blasting Springsteen, drinking beer, and setting off fireworks. The good folks over at Valve celebrate the country by offering Fallout 3 at half price.
That’s right, you can snag Fallout 3 on the PC for $25. So how about you do the truly patriotic thing and help clean the wasteland of raiders and super mutants. God knows, it’s the only way to get into DC this weekend.
Today Funcom rolled out the fifth update for Age of Conan, and with it comes some big changes.

It looks like Polish game publisher/developer CD Projekt has fallen on some hard times. Today it announced that its console port of The Witcher, dubbed The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf, has been suspended.
According to Widescreen director Olivier Masclef, “The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf has been suspended pending the resolution of financial issues between the different project partners.” He went on to explain that CD Projekt missed “a big payment that we were supposed to receive. After having committed to the project but not being covered financially on it for three months, I [had] no choice.”
Hopefully CD Projekt will get their financial situation sorted out. I was a fan of The Witcher on PC and wholeheartedly believe that its unique blend of action and RPG elements would make it a standout title on consoles.
