Word on the street is that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 will be getting a price cut sometime before E3, which is in two weeks. Rumor has it that $50 will be taken off the price, bringing the 20GB bundle down to $299. There’s no word if the price drop will affect the Arcade or the Elite skus, but personally, I’d put money on it.

What do you guys think? Is this price cut real or just talk? Let us know by leaving a comment at the bottom.

Word on the net is EA is planning on releasing a Rock Band 2 at some point. What evidence do we have? Other than Rock Band being one of the most lucrative games of last year, EA has been conducting surveys about Rock Band 2.

According to the survey, Rock Band 2 will be a full game, not just an expansion pack. It will make a leap in difficulty, much like Guitar Hero to Guitar Hero II. One of the questions dealt with pricing. Apparently EA is kicking around the idea of selling the full instrument package for $199, $169, or $149. The survey also asks what the chances are of buying Rock Band 2 over a similar game, aka Guitar Hero 4. Some other changes mentioned in the survey deal with an online version of World Tour mode, the ability to record music videos, a Battle of the Bands feature, and a drum trainer mode.

Now remember this is all rumors and speculation. All of this is subject to change. I personally did not take part in the survey, although I wish I had (EA feel free to email me).

According to former Quake great Steve “sCary” Gibson, Duke Nukem Forever actually exists, and he’s seen it with his own two eyes. Gibson wrote on his site, Shacknews:

I have seen it. […] We watched actual interactive gameplay being interacted with.

Of course, we are far from the first to make such a claim. During 3D Realms’ lengthy development cycle of Duke Nukem Forever here in the Dallas area, I have run in to my fair share of publishers and developers who boast they have gotten a glimpse of the game.

We both confidently agree that after seeing this demonstration, Duke Nukem Forever is looking great, and will easily stand apart from the crowd in both visual and gameplay styles.

Far be it from me to argue sCary’s claims, but the account is missing a lot of details, and most importantly, photo or video evidence of the game’s existence.

The game has almost redefined the term “vaporware.” DNF has been in development for 11 years now–could 2008 be the magic year for developer 3DRealms?

The latest issue of GamePro has news about Microsoft closing a deal to acquire Gears of War developer Epic Games; allegedly, the deal could cost as much as as $1 billion dollars.

Hold on, let me get my giant mound of salt. Okay.

If this turns out to be true, Microsoft would own the much hyped and Epic-developed Unreal Engine 3, used in the already mentioned Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3.

Right now, this is just a rumor due to many reasons, obviously, and the price is only one of them. DevelopMag has Internet quote machine (and Epic VP) Mark Rein saying that the billion dollar rumor is only half of what Epic is really worth. Continued…

Some ham-handed Toys R’ Us employees put BioShock for the Xbox 360 on store shelves early here in the U.S, and there are strong rumors flying around that the game is now shipping to all stores as a result.

Daniel from the7gamers.com has compiled a list of evidence, saying that the BioShock TV commercial says “Available Now,” which is different from previous commercials. He also claims to have gotten “semi-official” confirmation from 2K Games that BioShock is shipping.

As Daniel notes, this could be a clever strategy to ride the wave of hype after the demo. Generally, when one store breaks the street date, it’s open season for the game. We’ll keep you updated.

Aside from having lousy graphics, dumb games, and a silly name that, in English, is a childish euphemism for a penis, the Nintendo Wii likes to break television sets.

Not good.

But the Kyoto-based playing card company has heard our plaintive wails as we kneel, sobbing, over our shattered plasma screens. With a lighting-quick turn around of only eight months, Nintendo is preparing a new, tighter Wiimote strap. Continued…
