Ellen = Master ChiefUbisoft is apologizing to customers for including the word “lesbo” in Scrabble 2007 for the Nintendo DS.

This word is used by certain persons of an unsavory nature, as a derogatory term for “female homosexual.”

“Lesbo” is in the official Scrabble Dictionary, and is not considered offensive by its editors; it was not included as a slight to our Sapphic sisters.

You might say, but wait — a Lesbian is also a person from the Isle of Lesbos in Greece. But that would be a proper noun, and proper nouns aren’t allowed in Scrabble.

The French publisher is not pulling the game. Back in June, Ubisoft got in trouble for using the word “spastic” in Mind Quiz.

Le Condom Machine. Please take this as a lesson: you must use protection whenever sharing a phallic object with strangers. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a real phallus or not; it doesn’t matter if you’re a person or a multinational conglomerate based in Japan. Use protection, or you will pay the price.

The price for Nintendo, according to Joystiq, is $18 million to ship Wii Remote Jackets to any customer who requests one. The problem here isn’t herpes or pregnancy; it’s broken televisions, smashed Wiimotes, and injured children. The solution: latex.

Joystiq quoted IGN for this figure, but if there’s such a story on IGN, I couldn’t find it.

Don’t forget my Name the Wii Remote Jacket Contest. Whoever sends me the best name (apart from “Wii Condom”) for the Jacket gets GGL swag!

Badunk badunk.I always play a female character in RPGs and MMOs. If I’m going to spend hundreds of hours staring at a character’s ass, I want it to be a hot female ass.

Have you seen the badunk badunks on those Draenei chicks? Niiiiice.

But Chinese MMORPG King of the World has instituted a policy banning male players from playing female characters. Gender character restrictions aren’t new — popular Korean isometric MMO Ragnarok Online insists that players play their own gender, although it’s an easy rule to get around. But King of the World’s publisher, Aurora Technology, has apparently frozen the accounts of all male players with female characters.

Now, any player who wishes to roll a female character will have to submit to a webcam interview. Supposedly to show off her boobies. Continued…

For years now, many have complained that the main reason more people aren’t playing videogames is that it is not marketed toward them. While this may, in fact, be partially true there are also other factors that go into why our culture reacts to the gaming pastime as it does. Continued…

Wii Girl 160I guess this Wii owner in Dallas is kind of lonely. And got tired of Wii Sports.

In case it’s taken down, here’s a mirror.

Edited for moral hygiene.THQ released new screenshots for the upcoming PC & 360 MMORPG Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. Clearly, there’s going to be some adult content.

Visitors to the official web site must give their age before entering.  Developer Funcom has stated they expect the game, which launches October 30th, to receive an “M” rating from the ESRB.

The game is based on Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Cimmerian stories from the 1930s.  From the screenshots, it seems clear the game will keep the violence and sex from the original writing.

The art design seems directly influenced by fantasy artist Frank Frazetta’s well known Conan illustrations. Continued…
