Yesterday I wrote up a news item on how SOCOM: Confrontation will be distributed. Today Sony and GameStop released some info on how North American gamers can get into the SOCOM public beta.

There are two ways to get into the beta, both of which are pretty easy. One way has gamers preordering SOCOM from GameStop. If you do it this way, you will two extra keys to share with friends. The GameStop beta keys will be activated September 1. The other way to get into the beta involves downloading the June issue of QORE, the PlayStation Network’s video show. When you download the issue, you will be given a beta key that goes live September 8.

Personally I’d go with the GameStop option. Gaming with buddies is always better than gaming alone.

Today Sony announced SOCOM: Confrontation will arrive in both stores and the PlayStation Network on Oct 14. The PS3 exclusive shooter promises the same third person tactical action of the previous titles. It will be released in three different packaging bundles. Like Warhawk, SOCOM: Confrontation will be released on the PlayStation Network and in stores, either bundled with a Bluetooth headset or just the game disk.
