This story is serious business, but I’m cracking up inside. What kind of self-respecting Internet nerd pretends to be a woman to get friendly with a 16 year old girl in World of Warcraft, and then drives 13 hours to meet her in person?

That would be Justin Michael Gregory-MacIntyre, 20, of Calgary, Alberta. He pretended to be a college girl in Calgary named “Vera” in WoW and on MySpace, and was guildmates with his intended victim. When he arrived in Tacoma, WA, he attempted to ply the poor unsuspecting girl with his car keys, a tank top, season one of The O.C. on DVD, and a new laptop computer.

In his trunk, he had bottles of champagne, vodka, rum and cognac. It’s fairly obvious what Justin Michael Gregory-MacIntyre had in mind, but plenty of people use WoW to hook up without lying to each other. As an aside, I’d hate the world if I had a name that long, too — just think of how many aggregate hours this guy spent in trash cans growing up.

Anyway, when he finally got caught, he asked the cops if he could “apologize.” Because, really, that would make it all better. Chuck Norris would not approve.
