Video on demand from Group B matches of the GOMTV Star Invitational is now available. These matches are not English VODs–the English voiceover seems to have disappeared from the Group B games.
Group B consisted of six games in total, with the Emperor Lim “Boxer” Yo-Hwan returning to action.
Video on demand views from the GSI site count toward Tasteless’ views, and any further employment for him by GOMTV. If you want to support the only truly specialized English StarCraft caster in existence, get to watching. Tasteless is casting every match.
GOMTV announced in January a special invitational league featuring the top names in StarCraft. Legendary veterans like Yo Hwan “SlayerS_Boxer” Lim and Yoon-Yeol “ReD[NaDa]” Lee, as well as new stars like Jae-Dong “n.Die_Jaedong” Lee will fight it out in the event Feb. 17-20.
Possibly the biggest news about this event comes with GOMTV broadcasting the games live over the internet to American audiences, featuring Nick “Tasteless” Plott as one of the English-language commentators. Tasteless is in the running for a new gig, but won’t make it without the help of his dedicated fans. GOMTV has informed him that any further employment opportunities depend on his viewing numbers. That’s where you come in.
A new GOMTV player has been made specifically for international audiences. View the match schedule here and get ready for some hot Tasteless action. VOD views count toward Tasteless’ views as well.
More info, schedule, and streams can be found at gsi.gomtv.com.
Nick “Tasteless” Plott, famed shoutcaster and pretty damned good StarCraft player, has made a statement on TeamLiquid.net that he’s going to Korea to work on Arirang TV as an RTS commentator. Check it:
For those of you who don’t know me I’m Nick Plott also known as “Tasteless.” I’ve been a competitive gamer on SC since the game has come out and have since then moved on to shoutcast many live tournaments such as WCG, Blizzcon and others. I do this because I love this game and e-sports in general and also have a long-term interest in helping its growth. A week ago I was informed that Arirang TV has been looking for an English RTS caster. I am very happy to tell you all I have been accepted for this position and will now be broadcasting on Korean national television.
Personally (and I think I speak for everyone) I wish him the best luck in the world to his new career in Korea. Tasteless is first in line when it comes to being a badass English StarCraft shoutcaster, but he’ll also need to learn Warcraft III to do his new job. Presumably, he will also be shoutcasting StarCraft II if it launches during his tenure there.
I love math, and I’m terrible at it. I love foreign languages – I’ve studied four different ones, and have absolutely no aptitude whatsoever at any of them.
I love real-time strategy games, and I suck at them.
So I decided to comb the web and talk to a couple of experts, and put together the ultimate list of advice for RTS n00bs. Just from compiling this advice, I’ve graduated from “Worst RTS Player Ever” to “Generally Confused n00b.” But I’m still working at it. Continued…
This week’s 1on1 interview comes with one of the most popular StarCraft shoutcasters in the world, Nick “Tasteless” Plott. Otherwise known as the “Storm Observer,” Tasteless has made the depth of his understanding of the game and his passion for it his trademarks. Wire’s Michal “Carmac” Blicharz got the opportunity to interview Nick in Seattle, at the World Cyber Games finals.
One of the wonderful persons that inhabit the Internet has posted the VODs from WEG e-Stars 2007 StarCraft final. The gentlemen in it were the Protoss player Hu “JangBi” Yung Moo and the Zerg player Lee “Jaedong” Jae Dong.
One of them picked up $20,000 for his victory. If you do not remember which player it was, either go to our previous post with the results or go inside this item to watch the VODs. The clips have got English commentary by none other than Nick “Tasteless” Plott, accompanied by Jeff “smeagol” Dickinson.
Tasteless + StarCraft = time well spent. Continued…
Good news for those that were interested in seeing the VOD of the Blizzcon StarCraft Invitational tournament between the Zerg player Ma “sAviOr” Jae Yoon and the Protoss player Kang “Nal_rA” Min. Even if you are not into StarCraft, you should watch this game anyway, just to understand why tens of thousands come to watch live SC matches. The commentary by Nick “Tasteless” Plott and Kim “bunny” Phan definitely makes it worth it.
sAviOr is the world’s scariest StarCraft player, ranked number one among the Korean professionals. His opponent Nal_rA is said to be one of the sneakiest and most creative players in the game, next to the legendary Lim “BoxeR” Yo Hwan. Now get comfortable, turn up the volume and start watching.
This week, GGL’s Michal “Carmac” Blicharz gives his take on the Championship Gaming Series mediocrity… on the Quad-Damage randomness… on Blizzcon’s results…
