This is just a reminder that the demo of Haze, previously announced as out “early May,” will be hitting the PlayStation Network tomorrow, May 8. The demo features 4 player, drop-in/drop-out co-op multiplayer, as well as part of the standard single-player campaign. I don’t know about you guys, but I think it’s worth a download.

Today Ubisoft released some details on the upcoming Prince of Persia game. Developed by the original team who made Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, the new game will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Featuring new cel-shaded graphics, the game will focus more on “one-on-one sword fighting duels, with a very dynamic camera. It’s described as being more Soul Calibur than God of War.”

The story will follow a Zoroastrian myth, dealing with a war between good and evil. In the myth there is a “war between good and evil gods (and twins) Ohrmazd and Ahriman. Ohrmazd wins and imprisons his brother in a box hidden in an oasis. But Ahriman is freed by an unwitting thief centuries later, and remakes the world in his image, corrupting all living beings. It falls to the thief to undo his actions and return colour to the world, and in so doing he turns from robber into the titular Prince.”

All in all, it sounds pretty cool. I was never really a fan of the previous games, but if this one turns out they way Ubisoft says it will, I’m down to pick it up.

Today Ubisoft released a patch for the Xbox 360 version Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Most of the changes only affect multiplayer. A similar patch for PS3 and PC are in the work and will be out shortly. The list of changes goes:

  • Swapping to & from Pistols are now faster in Multiplayer.
  • Optimized sound bank to improve weapon firing and helicopter sound clips that loop over and over.
  • Servers now update their pings more often so that players have a more accurate value of server performance.
  • Spawn Shield is shorter when respawning with the Leader.
  • When there are more people on a team than the other, there is an overall XP modifier applied to all XP gained during the game.
  • By pressing the start button, players now have access to the outfitting menu in observer mode.
  • Respawning in Team Deathmatch now work like regular Deathmatch (random points throughout the map) which intensifies gameplay and minimizes spawn camping/trapping.
  • Faster respawns for Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. You no longer have to wait a full 10 seconds!
  • Players who enter a room using custom search then exit will be brought back to an automatic search with the same criteria.

For the rest of the changes hit the jump. Continued…

Today it was announced that Haze, the PS3 exclusive FPS, will be arriving in stores May 20. A demo will be available in “early May,” and will feature 4 player, drop-in/drop-out co-op multiplayer, as well as part of the standard single-player campaign.

Sounds like a pretty sweet demo. Hopefully the game has been improving after all the delays.

If you have been waiting for the “early April” PC release of Assassin’s Creed, you won’t be getting the same game the consoles had.

According to Ubisoft, there will be four new mission types added to the PC release. These new missions include, “archer assassination,” where you must use your stealth abilities to take out rooftop guards, “escort challenge,” where you must protect a fellow assassin, “merchant stand destruction challenge,” which is pretty self explanatory, and “rooftop race challenge.” The PC version also touts enhanced enemy AI.

As a (primarily) PC gamer, I just love it when PC ports get extra content over consoles.

Here’s a trailer from Rainbow Six Vegas 2 showing off some of the guns in the game. The tactical shooter hits stores March 21 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

A month or so ago I posted some details about Rainbow Six Vegas 2. In said news item, I gave a vague March ‘08 release date. Lucky me; Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will be released on March 21.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will feature the same intense gun play as the first one while improving other facets of game play. There will be online co-op, an improved reward system, and destructible cover. Unfortunately little else is known, however its just a short wait until you can experience the game for yourself.

ClanBase’s Vendetta submitted this report.

Ubisoft revealed today that the PC version of Assassin’s Creed will be available in the stores on March 28. The Nintendo DS exclusive Assassin’s Creed Altaïr’s Chronicles will also hit the stores at the same day.

The release date had previously been set in February, meaning there is a month delay for both games.

On a side note for most gamers here: Ubisoft also announced that the release date of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic Elements has also been pushed up one week, to February the 15th.

The PlayStation 3 exclusive Haze has had a rough time getting to store shelves. The game was originally supposed to hit retail in time for the holidays, but to no avail.

After that date was missed, Ubisoft said it would be out before April. Now Ubisoft has announced that they are pushing the game back to an unspecified time in the 08-09 fiscal year (after March).

Personally I think it’s a shame that Haze keeps getting delayed. It’s a (supposed) AAA PlayStation 3 exclusive that isn’t exactly getting AAA treatment.

Ubisoft broke into the new year today with quite an interesting piece of information.

Development for Far Cry 2 is no longer limited to the PC platform, but will also be making it’s way to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 in fiscal 08-09.

One might wonder how in the world this feat could possibly be accomplished. With Far Cry 2 already looking amazing, and way beyond anything we could possibly expect out of the Xbox 360 360 or the PlayStation 3, it would seem highly unlikely that the same quality could be achieved with a current console version.

Never the less, the announcement has been made. Look for Far Cry 2 to be the cover story featured in the March issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, which hits store shelves Feb. 12. Perhaps then some of my disbeliefs will be laid to rest.
