The Korean World Cyber Games qualifier is over. Three formidable StarCraft players will be looking to emulate last year’s feat of IloveOOv, JulyZerg and Midas taking all three medals.

The strongest country in the world in the realm of RTS games will field one of the scariest lineup of players in history if you look at StarCraft and Warcraft 3 combined. Continued…

WCG Korea for StarCraft, the fiercest World Cyber Games qualifier, is now almost down to the final four. The players that will battle for three tickets to the finals in Seattle are Hwasin, Stork and sAviOr. Either Free or Sea will join the club tomorrow.

Not one of the players that qualified for the WCG last year, incidentally, they took all three medals for StarCraft, will make it to the WCG this year. The 2006 gold medalist IloveOOv and the bronze medalist Midas were knocked out in the top 16. Continued…

Today, the third Warcraft 3 player from Korea has won himself a ticket to the World Cyber Games finals in Seattle. His name is Lee “SoJu” Seong Deok, and it will be his third WCG appearance in a row.

For the first time in years, Jang “Spirit Moon” JeaHo has qualified for the World Cyber Games finals in Warcraft 3. The Meet Your Makers Night Elf player beat Jang “WhO” Du Sub for his berth in the finals. Moon’s previous appearance in the WCG was in 2004, when he lost to Hwang “Zacard” Tae Min in the playoffs.

The highest earning Warcraft 3 player this year only needed two maps to defeat WhO and beat him on Terenas Stand and Twisted Meadows. Yesterday, June “Lyn” Park qualified by beating Lee “SoJu” Seong Deok. SoJu and WhO will play a consolation final for third place.

The World Cyber Games finals takes place in Seattle, on October 3-7.

IloveOOv on Monday, Bisu on Tuesday… The time has come for Lee “NaDa” Yoon Yeol, the only three times Starleague winner on the planet. Today, he was another giant to be eliminated from the Korean World Cyber Games qualifier for StarCraft.

Two out of the remaining four top 16 matches were played today. In a Terran mirror match, NaDa lost 2-0 to Yum “Sea” Bo Sung. The current number one in StarCraft, Ma “sAviOr” Jae Yoon, has gone through at Park “Yellow[ArnC]” Myung Soo’s expense. Continued…

The Korean World Cyber Games qualifier for StarCraft is now well underway with sixteen players left playing for tickets to the finals in Seattle. It is a preliminary that defies the meaning of the word “qualifier,” as it is the only national tournament that is actually more difficult to win than the WCG itself.

Only a handful of players from abroad would have made it to the top 16 of this competition. A good indicator of this qualifier’s difficulty is the fact the winner and the runner up of Starleague, Kim “GGplay” Joon Yung and Byun “IriS” Hyung Tae, are already out at this stage. For those that do not know, Starleague is one of the two most prestigious events in StarCraft for solo players. Continued…

Jang “Spirit Moon” JaeHo, the Korean Warcraft 3 superstar, is one step away from qualifying for his first World Cyber Games event since 2004.

Today, he beat the fellow Night Elf player Hyung Ju “Check” Lee in the quarterfinal of the Korean WCG preliminary with a 2-0 map score. Next Wednesday (August 15), Spirit Moon will play Jang “WhO” Du Sub and he is expected to cyclone the living hell out of his opponent’s Orcs. For those that do not know, the Korean eats Orc babies for breakfast. Continued…

By the looks of it, Korea will be sending two Night Elf players to the World Cyber Games. The semi finals of the Korean qualifier will see two NE vs. Orc match-ups. Cries about the NE race being too strong in Warcraft 3 will resound for months to go.

Lee “SoJu” Seong Deok (NE) will face June “Lyn” Park (Orc) for a spot in the WCG finals. In the other semi final, Jang “WhO” Du Sub (Orc) is waiting for the winner of the quarterfinal between Jang “Spirit Moon” JaeHo and Hyung Ju “Check” Lee (both Night Elf). Continued…
