Today Ubisoft and Valve announced that Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway is now available for pre-order via Steam. The real kicker of the deal is, that if you do pre-order the game, you get a free copy of Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 for free.

If you haven’t played any of the Brothers in Arms games, they are worth a look. They offer a unique first-person shooter experience by forgoing the standard FPS gameplay in favor of a more squad based form of combat. The game actually plays like a first-person strategy game.

This is just one of the many reasons I love Steam. Aside from the great library of games they offer, they are always having awesome deals like this. If you don’t have Steam installed, what are you waiting for? Check it out.

Today Crytek announced that Crysis Warhead, the parallel game to Crysis, will be arriving in North American stores on Sept 16 and European stores Sept 12. A Pretty quick turn around considering that we first head about the game in early June.

For those of you who don’t know, Crysis Warhead is not a sequel to Crysis, but rather a parallel story. The game follows Psycho, the ally of original Crysis’s protagonist, Nomad. The game promises “open-ended gameplay, cutting-edge visuals and huge, epic battles from the first game, while also finally finding out what kind of havoc Psycho was wreaking on the other side of the island.”

Sounds good to me. I was a huge fan of Crysis not only because of the visuals and my PC loyalty, but because the game was actually good. If you haven’t check it out yet, download a demo. Don’t let the whole graphics thing bother you; Crysis scales down well.

Today Rockstar games announced that, like all previous GTA games, Grand Theft Auto IV will be arriving on the PC. Hitting stores Nov 18, the PC port is being developed by Rockstar North. According to the Founder of Rockstar Games, Sam Houser: “We are very excited to be releasing the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV. The whole team is dedicated to bringing an amazing gaming experience to the PC. The game looks and plays beautifully on PC and we can’t wait for people to play it.”

Personally, I love this news. I have played every GTA on my PC and can’t wait to pick up GTA IV. It may seem like a waste to buy the same game twice, I already own it on 360, but it is totally worth it if I can play GTA IV at over 60 frames-per-second and with my own music and control scheme.

Yesterday Blizzard released patch 1.12 for Diablo II. The patch allows gamers to finally play D2 without having the play CD in the drive. In order to do this, you must have the selected the “full install” option when installing the game. Other issues the patch addresses deals with involve compatibility problems with Intel powered Macs. Patch 1.12 also reset the online rankings.

The internet is ablaze with speculation that this means that Diablo II will be heading to Blizzard’s download store. This may be the case, however Blizzard is notorious for patching their games long after their release date; Case and point Starcraft, which came out in 1998 and was patched as recently as 07.

Yesterday I posted some info on the new Team Fortress 2 update, due out Thursday, and more importantly what changes the Pyro will get. Well, today Valve revealed the rest of the Pyro’s new arsenal. In addition to the Axtinguisher, the Pyro will be getting a Flare Gun, which allows him to toast enemies from a distance, and The Backburner, which is a flamethrower that does critical hits is striking an enemy from behind while giving the Pyro 50 health. In addition to these new weapons, the standard flamethrower is getting a new alt-fire. Now the Pyro can shoot out a burst of compressed air that will blow away players as well as incoming projectiles.

Personally I can’t wait for tomorrow. As soon as I get out of work, you can be sure that I’ll be trying to unlock these new guns. If any of you care to join me, my steam name is Yuenanimous. I look forward to fragging alongside you guys.

Today Valve released the next installment of “Meet the” videos for Team Fortress 2. This time we are treated to making the acquaintance of the Sniper. As usual, Valve delivers a hilarious looks at one Team Fortress 2’s player classes. If you haven’t checked out any of these videos, they are available on steam.

Valve also announced that this Thursday, June 19, the Pyro will be getting 35 new achievements as well as 3 new unlockable weapons. So far the only unlockable that has been announced is the “Axtinguisher,” which does half the damage of the regular ax unless the target is one fire, then it hits as an automatic critical.

I really am showing my fanboy colors right now, but as a PC gamer I love what Valve is doing. They keep their games fresh and interesting, something the PC market desperately needs.

Today, Swedish Developer Lockpick Entertainment announced that their free MMORTS, Dreamlord: The Reawakening, will be launching this Wednesday, June 18. According to Lockpick, Dreamlord is played via a client that is downloaded, but you can also manage certain aspects of play though a web-based management system.

The game features three factions, each with their own special play style. The Covenant are your classic good guys who excel at being average in everything. The Nihilim are magic users who are very specialized and require lots of micromanagement. The Thul are beast like savages who excel in combat.

As someone who currently has a very boring white collar job, I really am intrigued by this web-based management system. I have a feeling that this might be my savior from boredom. Nothing sounds better to me than a game I can play at work without being caught by my boss.

Today THQ announced that Saints Row 2 will be arriving on the PC. Previously it was announced that Saints Row 2 would only be available for PS3 and Xbox 360. There is no word on the PC release date, however I think it is safe to assume it will arrive at the same time as the console version, October 14.

Personally I am excited to see Saints Row 2 on PC. I am a huge PC fanboy. I feel that my best gaming experiences have all be while playing PC games. It seems like everyone is saying PC gaming is dead. With triple-A titles like this being ported, hopefully the PC will be seen as a viable gaming platform again.
