The Behemoth’s Xbox LIVE smash hit Castle Crashers today sees the release of the Necromantic DLC pack, adding two new characters, two weapons and the Dragonhead animal orb.
Players can now play as the resurrected Necromancer (one of the game’s main villains) or a lesser Cult Minion. The Skull Mace and Chainsaw are now available as weapons, also.
160 Microsoft points will net you the new DLC.
Today Valve announced that a new DLC pack for Left 4 Dead will arrive sometime in Sept.
The “Crash Course” DLC will add a new campaign streamlined for Versus Mode as well as new Survival Mode maps. According to Valve the new DLC will feature “New locations, new dialogue from the original cast, and an explosive finale.” Valve also stated that the “Crash Course” campaign will act as a bridge between the events of “No Mercy” and “Death Toll.”
The developer stated: “The primary goal of ‘Crash’ is to deliver a complete Versus mode experience in just 30 minutes, resulting in a streamlined version of the game’s existing Versus campaigns. A recharge timer for infected teammates has also been added, and item spawn behavior has changed for more balanced gameplay.”
The “Crash Course” DLC will be available on both the PC and Xbox 360. While it will be free for PC gamers, those on the 360 will have to pay 560 Microsoft Points ($7).
Personally, I can’t wait for this. Pretty much every night I’m playing Versus Mode, and the idea of a new campaign just gets me shacking with anticipation. The other good news about this is that it should calm down all the L4D2 boycotts.

Today the last of the Saints Row 2 DLC arrived. Unlike the first two packs, the new “Unkut Pack” is a free download that contains purely cosmetic content. When you download it you will have access to new tattoos and clothes.
The pack is available to everyone on the PS3, however on the Xbox 360 it is restricted to Xbox Live Gold members.

Capcom manned up today and released the Street Fighter IV Power Up Pack, bringing tournament play and replays to Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network.
On XBL, you’ll also be able to save replays from tournaments and watch them to your heart’s content.
The best part of it all: The Power Up Pack is free. Just boot up SFIV and make sure you’re online, and you’ll be prompted to update your game.

Today online superstore Amazon.com launched a new Xbox Live Store. Here gamers can purchase downloadable games and Xbox Live subscriptions for real money. There is no need for Microsoft Points.
The store offers over 100 Xbox Live Arcade games. Once you purchase a game, you will instantly be given a code to download the game to your Xbox 360.
Aside from not having to deal with Microsoft Points anymore, there are several benefits from using the Amazon store. There are reviews, ratings and wish lists which helps bring attention to games that might otherwise be looked over. Generous gamers can now also give games as gifts, a feature that was left out of Xbox Live.

This morning publisher D3 announced that Puzzle Quest: Galactrix will arrive on Xbox Live Marketplace on Wednesday, April 8 and will cost you 1600 Microsoft Points ($20).
Developed by Infinite Interactive, Puzzle Quest: Galactrix takes the classic Bejeweled gameplay and gives it a sci-fi twist. Instead of battling trolls and towers, players will have to deal with space pirates and warp gates. Tiles are now hexagons, which mean they can me swapped in six direction. Gravity also plays a factor in the game. When you move a tile, the new tiles will fall in the same direction. This adds a new level of strategy to the franchise.
I have Puzzle Quest: Galactrix on the PC and must say it’s pretty fun. The hexagon tile and gravity change the gameplay up quite a bit. It is an absolute lie to say that Galactrix is just Puzzle Quest in space.
Today Treyarch announced that its Call of Duty: World at War map pack has sold more than one million copies from March 19th through 22nd. That means within three days the map pack earned over $10 million.
Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch stated: “I’m proud that the team at Treyarch delivered an experience that so many people are enjoying. We’re excited that the success of Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 will continue to drive the popularity of the game’s Nazi Zombie mode, competitive multiplayer and chart-breaking success online.”
Microsoft confirmed that the map pack set a new record for first-week downloads on Xbox Live Marketplace.

Yesterday I wrote an article about Fallout 3’s “The Pitt” DLC and how it’s all buggy. Last night Bethesda sent word that The Pitt has been fixed and will arrive on the Xbox 360 today.
Pete Hines, Bethesda’s marketing VP, stated that they are “Finishing some tests but if all checks out we should have The Pitt back up and available by tomorrow afternoon.”
Yesterday I finally got Games for Windows Live to work, so I was able to download The Pitt. For me, everything worked fine. If you are one of the gamers affected by this bug just sit tight. I can assure you that The Pitt is worth your time and money.
This morning Fallout 3’s “The Pitt” expansion hit Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live Marketplace. Costing 800 Microsoft Points ($10), The Pitt takes gamers to post-apocalyptic Pittsburgh where slavers have taken over.
Unfortunately for Bethesda, developer of Fallout 3, there have been some issues. There are reports all over the web of severe bugs in The Pitt for both the Xbox 360 and PC. According to one comment on Major Nelson’s blog: “It’s not worth it. It’s completely broken. Textures & Graphics are glitchy and bugged. There are these box exclamation points all over The Pitt map. I think someone screwed up because it’s completely bugged out. It’s like not playable after the bridge because it freezes. If you manage to get past the bridge part you’re pretty much in glitch city. Good Luck.”
Some people have reported success after re-downloading the expansion. This supposedly ensures that all 682MB are there.
I am currently trying to download The Pitt, however Games for Windows Live is acting fussy. Once I get it working, and if I have any problems, you can be sure I’ll post my symptoms and solutions here on The Wire.

Rev up your chainsaws and bring ammo. The Resident Evil 5 demo hits Xbox LIVE today, letting you take white knight Chris Redfield into the shantytowns of Africa to kill (wait for it…) infected hostile indigenous peoples.
Chris will be joined by the (obviously) incredibly hot Sheva, proving once and for all that chicks who carry guns around and kill zombies are always fit, with perfect teeth and clear skin.
The demo includes two levels as well as online co-op play, and comes in at a relatively light 473MB. PlayStation 3 owners can get their demo next week. The full game hits stores March 13.
Enjoy the zombie slaying!
One of the biggest arguments against the Xbox 360 is that gamers have to pay to play online. This wouldn’t be so bad if the price wasn’t so high. $50 is a lot to ask for if you are a casual gamer. Hopefully this Delightful Deals will help you guys out.
Amazon is currently selling a 13 month Xbox Live card for only $38.99. Sure it’s still pricey, but it might just be a tad more manageable than the regular $49.99 price. If you do the math, the price breaks down to something like $2.99 a month. Hopefully this deal will help gamers get though these rough economic times.
